Softball Recap: Pierce City Comes Up Short

Pierce City had lost 18 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it 19. They lost 12-0 to the Diamond Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Diamond, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-4. Considering they have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Diamond's part, Sara Roszell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Roszell has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Lauren Turner was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Crook, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Pierce City will head out to take on Southwest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Diamond, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbus at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
