Softball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Has No Trouble Against Valley Center

Canyon Crest Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Valley Center, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Canyon Crest Academy Ravens blew past the Valley Center Jaguars 11-5 on Saturday. This was payback for the Ravens, who suffered a 14-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Grace Yao made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Melony Garcia was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kate Newlander, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Canyon Crest Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Center only posted a batting average of .217.

The victory made it two in a row for Canyon Crest Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6 runs. As for Valley Center, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Canyon Crest Academy has already played their next game, a 9-0 loss against San Pasqual on the 3rd. As for Valley Center, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-5 win against Hilltop on the 4th.
