Softball Game Preview: Madison Mohawks vs. Brookville Blue Devils

The Madison Mohawks will face off against the Brookville Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Madison's offense. They came up short against Brookville on Wednesday, falling 7-0. The Mohawks have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

For Brookville's part, Rylan Eagle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Eagle has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nora Dunkle and Ella Nutter did most of the damage at the plate: Dunkle went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Nutter got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Dunkle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Mart, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Brookville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 4-9-1. As for Brookville, they dropped their record down to 10-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
