Baseball Game Preview: River Ridge Royal Knights vs. Citrus Hurricanes

The River Ridge Royal Knights will face off against the Citrus Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games River Ridge has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

River Ridge is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Nature Coast Tech just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Sharks by a score of 4-3.

River Ridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy DeLoreto, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. DeLoreto also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Citrus' offense. They came up short against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic on Friday, falling 7-0. Citrus' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

River Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Citrus, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. River Ridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Citrus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

River Ridge took their victory against Citrus in their previous matchup back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 6-0. Will River Ridge repeat their success, or does Citrus have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
