Softball Recap: Raytown South Cardinals vs. St. Pius X Warriors
Raytown South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They fell just short of the St. Pius X Warriors by a score of 8-6. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
Sandra Mancrea was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits. Taylor Thresher was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Raytown South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Raytown South's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for St. Pius X, their win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.
Raytown South will welcome Lincoln College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Pius X does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
