Basketball Recap: Westminster Christian Comes Up Short

If Westminster Christian was feeling good fresh off their 50-30 takedown of College Prep of America last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Westminster Christian Warriors were dealt a 64-17 defeat at the hands of the Harvest Christian Academy Lions on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost eight in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harvest Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alyssa Burke, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Burke a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Semerau, who went 9 of 13 on her way to 21 points and six steals.

Westminster Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Harvest Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian will take on Christian Liberty in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Christian Liberty will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Westminster Christian surely won't give up without a fight. Harvest Christian Academy and Wheaton Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harvest Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
