Basketball Recap: Morgan Park Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Taft, Morgan Park was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 51-50 victory over the Payton College Prep Grizzlies. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Morgan Park pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Payton College Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Morgan Park will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Phillips at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Payton College Prep and Niles North will compete for holiday cheer at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
