Softball Recap: Desert Ridge Triumphs

Desert Ridge won the last time they faced Higley and things went their way on Thursday too. The Jaguars had just enough and edged out the Knights 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Novi Muffo looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brooklyn Johnson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Aleeya Barwick was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Desert Ridge's record is now 14-6. As for Higley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15-1 record this season.

Desert Ridge will host Williams Field at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.78 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Higley, they will head out on the road to take on Mountain View at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Toros are coming into the contest with five straight victories at home, so the Knights will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
