Baseball Game Preview: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Cascade Cadets

The Tipton Blue Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the Cascade Cadets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tipton is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Tipton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Eastern, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Comets by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Blue Devils' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Keaton Dominguez and Piercen Nasser stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dominguez went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Nasser went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that Nasser has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacoby DeFoe, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cascade made easy work of Southmont on Wednesday and carried off a 13-4 win. The Cadets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Braxton Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. J.T. Roshong was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Cascade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Tipton's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cascade, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
