Saegertown and Union City are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Saegertown is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Lakeview 23-1 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Hailey Obenrader was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in six of her five plate appearances with five RBI, three doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, Saegertown let Rylie Braymer and Maddy Pratt run wild. Braymer got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Pratt went 3-for-4 with six RBI and two doubles. Those five runs gave Braymer a new career-high. Natalie Halsey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Saegertown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Union City came out on top against Youngsville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Bears were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly ten runs.
Grace Chapman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Alivia Zielinski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Saegertown's record now sits at 7-2. As for Union City, their record is now 9-4.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saegertown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. However, it's not like Union City struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Saegertown's way against Union City when the teams last played back in March, as Saegertown made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
