Softball Recap: Atkins Takes a Loss

Atkins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Southern Guilford Storm, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Storm this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 back in February.

Atkins saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aniston Pennington, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Atkins' loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Southern Guilford, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Atkins will face off against rival Eastern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Southern Guilford is set to square off against their familiar foe Ben L. Smith at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
