Softball Recap: Wharton Picks Up Third Consecutive Win + How To Watch

Wharton won against Freedom on Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Hernando Leopards with a sharp 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Eliza Connell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.

On the hitting side, Wharton got a massive performance out of Khloe Gonzalez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Bass, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wharton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.

The victory (which was Wharton's third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Hernando, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Coming up, Wharton will face off against Newsome at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.7, the Wolves 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Hernando, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-8 loss against Cypress Creek on the 13th.
