Recap: Asheville T Trailblazers vs. Oakbrook Prep Knights
The Asheville T Trailblazers managed to keep up with the Oakbrook Prep Knights until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Asheville T ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-42 walloping at the hands of Oakbrook Prep. While losing is never fun, Asheville T can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 440th in North Carolina, while Oakbrook Prep is ranked 108th in South Carolina).
Chris Wilkins was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with nine rebounds and three steals for Oakbrook Prep. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilkins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brad Caldwell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Asheville T has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Oakbrook Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Asheville T will be playing in front of their home fans against Asheville Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakbrook Prep's road trip will continue as they head out to face Spartanburg Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Spartanburg Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
