Basketball Recap: Nebraska City Takes a Loss

Nebraska City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Platteview Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pioneers of the 60-36 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Platteview found their leader in sophomore Maddy Stukenholtz, who posted 18 points and four steals. Stukenholtz continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kady Vanosdall was another key player, putting up eight points.

Nebraska City's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Platteview, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-9.

Nebraska City will be playing in front of their home fans against Falls City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Platteview, they will square off against Gretna at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
