Basketball Game Preview: Somerville Pioneers vs. Warren Hills Regional Blue Streaks

The Somerville Pioneers will venture away from home to face off against the Warren Hills Regional Blue Streaks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Warren Hills Regional took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Somerville, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, it was close, but Somerville sidestepped North Hunterdon for a 51-48 victory. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Lions are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Warren Hills Regional unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 54-44 to Delaware Valley.

Somerville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Warren Hills Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Somerville and Warren Hills Regional were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but Somerville came up empty-handed after a 66-65 defeat. Can Somerville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
