Softball Recap: Maricopa Comes Up Short

After soaring to 13 runs the game before, Maricopa was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They came up short against the Saguaro Sabercats, falling 9-2. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 11-6 to the Sabercats when the teams met back in April of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maricopa's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Saguaro, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-6 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Maricopa and Saguaro: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Maricopa will try to hand Flowing Wells their third-straight loss when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maricopa has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Saguaro will look to extend Cholla's four-game losing streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
