Baseball Recap: Rockford Comes Up Short

Rockford extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-13 in the process. They lost 7-1 to the West Ottawa Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rams have suffered since April 19th.

As for West Ottawa, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-11. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For West Ottawa's part, Collin Roelofs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Roelofs has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Knapp, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Chase Gerlach, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

While Rockford had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
