Soccer Game Preview: North Stafford vs. Riverbend

The North Stafford Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the Riverbend Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: North Stafford has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Riverbend will arrive with five straight victories.

Friday just wasn't the day for North Stafford's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brooke Point on Friday.

Meanwhile, Riverbend kept a clean sheet against Mountain View on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Wildcats. Riverbend's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five matchups.

Riverbend's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven contests. As for North Stafford, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9-1.

North Stafford suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Riverbend when the teams last played back in April. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
