Softball Recap: Alcorn Central Wins Going Away Against New Albany

Alcorn Central had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt New Albany on Thursday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Bulldogs. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Sydnee Norman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Norman was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Journey Phillips was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Haizley Barber was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Alcorn Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Alcorn Central's record now sits at 13-10. As for New Albany, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
