Basketball Recap: Roanoke Catholic's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Roanoke Catholic won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They came up short against the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks, falling 82-58. The Celtics haven't had much luck with the Mavericks recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Roanoke Catholic lost, don't look at Demarcus Brown. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 11 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Yajae Hairston, who posted nine points along with five boards and three steals.

Miller School of Albemarle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Hairston, who went 7 for 8 on his way to 19 points and six assists. Hairston is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Crissman, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points.

Roanoke Catholic's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Miller School of Albemarle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.

Roanoke Catholic has already played their next contest, a 62-55 win against North Cross on the 30th. As for Miller School of Albemarle, they will challenge Fishburne Military at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miller School of Albemarle knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Fishburne Military likes a good challenge.
