Basketball Game Preview: Coastal Christian Conquerors vs. Shandon Outlaws

Coastal Christian has gone 10-0 against Shandon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Coastal Christian Conquerors will challenge the Shandon Outlaws at 3:30 p.m. Coastal Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Last Friday, Coastal Christian was fully in charge, breezing past Cuyama Valley 69-3. The Conquerors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 24 points or more this season.

Coastal Christian can attribute much of their success to Bristol Machgan, who posted 17 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Jenna Starkovich, who went 9 for 17 on her way to 19 points and five boards. Starkovich has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Carly Starkovich was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 10 points and three steals.

Coastal Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Shandon played against Valley Christian Academy and lost via forfeit.

Coastal Christian pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Shandon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Coastal Christian against Shandon in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 71-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coastal Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
