Adi Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Smith was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylee Ross, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allison Neff, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Wirt County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Nitro won against Oak Hill on Thursday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Wildcats walked away with a 12-9 win over Elk Valley Christian. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
McKenzie Hyatt made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hyatt was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Zoe Hyatt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times she's played. Laynie Stierwalt also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Nitro's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Wirt County, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9.
