Mercy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Harker Eagles as they made off with a 17-1 win. Considering the Bears have won six games by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Isabele Reburiano and Melina Antonio made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Reburiano pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Antonio tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Reburiano scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-3, while Antonio scored a run and stole three bases. Those three stolen bases gave Antonio a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mercy got a massive performance out of Aveline Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in doubles (two). Kathleen Graupera was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3.
Mercy pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Harker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Looking ahead, Mercy will host Lowell at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harker, they will head out to face off against Design Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
