Softball Recap: San Rafael's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

San Rafael waltzed into their game on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Marin Catholic Wildcats 12-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in April.

Thomara Drummer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Everett, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Gabriella Alvarez was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

San Rafael always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marin Catholic only posted an OBP of .323.

San Rafael's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marin Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Coincidentally, San Rafael and Marin Catholic will both be playing Archie Williams the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Peregrine Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
