League recap: Mantachie, South Pontotoc tied at the top

3A Region 2 league recap: 3/8/13

First place in the standings of 3A Region 2 is up for grabs this week, as South Pontotoc sits tied atop the standings with Mantachie.

Jj Chaney was the best pitcher in the league this week, leading Nettleton. He struck out six batters this week.

Nettleton put just five batters on base with walks in the past week, but the Mustangs' pitching staff has had the best control this season, surrendering a walk only 11 times in six innings this year.

Three batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Kolten Ferguson, who collected five hits in eight at bats for a .625 average.

The most RBI in the league this week belonged to the Cougars' Kolten Ferguson, who drove in five. Ferguson has ten RBIs this season, first in the league.



Ferguson was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during East Webster's 13-7 win over South Pontotoc. He went 1-for-5 and scored one run.
