Baseball Recap: Battle Mountain Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Battle Mountain can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against the Sierra Lutheran Falcons by a score of 8-4. This was payback for the Longhorns, who suffered a 9-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Daniel Lara made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lara wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abel Martin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Martin a new career-high. Rudy Guterriez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Battle Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sierra Lutheran only posted a batting average of .240.

The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 3-14. As for Sierra Lutheran, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Falcons beat Battle Mountain by a score of 7-3 on Saturday.
