Basketball Recap: Danbury Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

Danbury won the last time they faced Lakota and things went their way on Saturday too. The Danbury Lakers came out on top against the Lakota Raiders by a score of 40-32. Given the Lakers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Raiders are ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Danbury got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella McDonald out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. What's more, McDonald also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Maci Brown was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Danbury's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Lakota, they moved to 8-8 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Danbury will venture away from home to face off against Old Fort at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakota, they are taking a road trip to take on Gibsonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
