Basketball Recap: Hazen Takes a Loss

Hazen has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 72-56 bruising from the Stowe Raiders on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Vermont basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Raiders are ranked 50th).

Hazen's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-4. As for Stowe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Hazen will square off against North Country Union at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Country Union has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three contests. Stowe has already played their next game (against Winooski), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
