Basketball Recap: St. Cecilia Academy Takes a Loss

St. Cecilia Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Harpeth Hall Honeybears, falling 64-27. While losing is never fun, the Scarabs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Honeybears are ranked 76th).

St. Cecilia Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mariam Smith, who posted seven points and five boards, and Mia Galassini, who earned three points and seven rebounds. Smith has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played.

Even though they lost, St. Cecilia Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive matchups.
