Baseball Recap: North Sanpete Takes a Loss

North Sanpete extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 10-10. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Emery Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Tuesday.

North Sanpete saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Swapp, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Emery, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Emery's side, Garrett Conover spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Conover has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Coming up, North Sanpete will square off against Union at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Emery, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-3 win against Parowan on the 27th.
