The New Hope-Solebury Lions will square off against the William Tennent Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. William Tennent took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on New Hope-Solebury, who comes in off a win.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when New Hope-Solebury and Lower Moreland meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. New Hope-Solebury narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lower Moreland 6-5. While New Hope-Solebury didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Anthony Whelan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Whelan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Lucas Kevorkian was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Joel Carmenini was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
New Hope-Solebury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, William Tennent was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Upper Moreland, falling 14-5.
Henry Perotti made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
New Hope-Solebury pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for William Tennent, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
New Hope-Solebury came out on top in a nail-biter against William Tennent in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
