Preview: Matanzas Pirates vs. Winter Springs Bears
The Matanzas Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Winter Springs Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Matanzas' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Winter Springs has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Matanzas didn't have quite enough to beat Menendez and fell 14-12.
Meanwhile, Winter Springs fell victim to Oviedo's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Lions, falling 63-0. While losing is never fun, Winter Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 488th, while Oviedo is ranked 70th).
The losses dropped Matanzas to 6-3 and Winter Springs to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Matanzas against Winter Springs in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 47-10 win. Does Matanzas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Winter Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
