South Hills is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 34 points back in September, they were much more limited against Los Altos on Saturday. The matchup between the Huskies and the Conquerors didn't end well, with the Huskies falling 21-7. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 476th, while the Conquerors are ranked 148th).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Diamond Bar, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Walnut on Friday as they made off with a 30-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Brahmas in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.
South Hills better keep an eye on Dominic Tortorelli. He was instrumental in Diamond Bar's win, rushing for 136 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries. Lorenzo Martinez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Diamond Bar was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 68 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 238.7.
Diamond Bar didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Richard Perry, Martinez, and Jacob Smith picked up one apiece. Martinez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Diamond Bar's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for South Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
South Hills won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, slipping by Diamond Bar 30-29. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Brahmas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
