Basketball Recap: Beech Grove Takes a Loss

If Beech Grove was feeling good fresh off their 55-25 takedown of Indianapolis Lutheran last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Beech Grove Hornets took a blow against the Franklin Central Flashes on Thursday, falling 69-33. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Flashes are ranked 34th).

When it comes to explaining why Beech Grove lost, don't look at Mylee Boling. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points. Lyla Muffler-Challis was another key player, putting up six points.

It was another big night for Lily Graves, who went 9 of 15 on her way to 24 points for Franklin Central. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Huotari, who had nine points and eight assists.

Beech Grove's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Franklin Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Beech Grove will head out to take on Rushville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklin Central, they will be taking part in a tournament against Ben Davis at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
