Basketball Recap: CJ Aldrich's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rancho Buena Vista over Torrey Pines

Rancho Buena Vista lost against Torrey Pines back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns fell just short of the Torrey Pines Falcons by a score of 57-55. The Longhorns were up 19-3 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Rancho Buena Vista's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was CJ Aldrich, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Aldrich is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Horn, who went 6 of 9 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Tevaris Green was his usual excellent self, putting up 16 points and six rebounds for Torrey Pines. Green has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cody Shen, who posted nine points along with six assists and five boards.

Rancho Buena Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Torrey Pines, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

Rancho Buena Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-69 victory against La Costa Canyon on the 31st. Torrey Pines has also already played their next contest, a 69-68 win against Carlsbad on the 31st.
