Basketball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short

Hoover lost against Nicholas County back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hoover Huskies were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to the Nicholas County Grizzlies. The Huskies just can't catch a break and have now endured seven defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Ayva Veltri and Bella Haas certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Veltri went 10 of 20 en route to 23 points along with six boards and five steals, while Haas went 5 of 11 on her way to 16 points along with eight boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Haas a new career-high in points.

Hoover's record is now 0-3. As for Nicholas County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Hoover will be playing in front of their home fans against Sissonville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sissonville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Hoover surely won't give up without a fight. Nicholas County and Shady Spring will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
