Basketball Recap: Ygnacio Valley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Monte Vista

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ygnacio Valley walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 win over the Monte Vista Mustangs on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since January 20th.

Antonio Kellogg Jr was his usual excellent self, going 9-for-17 to rack up 27 points and five rebounds. The match was his third in a row with at least 23 points. Jalan Cody was another key player, putting up seven points and nine boards.

Ygnacio Valley pushed their record up to 18-10 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points over those games. As for Monte Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 17-12 record this season.

Coming up, Ygnacio Valley will venture away from home to challenge Dougherty Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
