Baseball Recap: Wooster Triumphs

Wooster won the last time they faced Sparks and things went their way on Saturday too. The Colts came out on top against the Railroaders by a score of 8-3. That's two games straight that the Colts have won by exactly five runs.

Chris Ballard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Wooster: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Ballard was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. What's more, he posted three doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rowan Andersen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Wooster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sparks only posted a batting average of .160.

The win made it two in a row for Wooster and bumps their season record up to 9-7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Sparks, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Wooster will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Railroaders: the pair will be back at it again later today.
