Basketball Game Preview: Holtville Vikings vs. Calipatria Hornets

The Holtville Vikings will face off against the Calipatria Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Holtville came up into this matchup off a tough 41-point loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Castle Park by a score of 47-44 last Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since February 14, 2024.

Meanwhile, Calipatria came up short against Brawley on Friday and fell 52-45. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Calipatria's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-6. As for Holtville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Holtville was dealt a bruising 67-26 defeat at the hands of Calipatria in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Holtville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
