Basketball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 58-26 loss at the hands of the Sterling Raiders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Marlins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-13 back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, don't look at Damijah Paul. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points. That was a full 61.5% of Madison's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Destiny Lewis was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 assists for Sterling. Lewis is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Morrow, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Sterling, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Milby the next time they take the court. Madison will host Milby at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, while Sterling will host them at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
