Basketball Game Preview: Utica Redskins vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets

The Utica Redskins will take on the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Saturday, Utica came up short against Northridge and fell 50-42. While the Redskins didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 16-12 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They secured a 50-45 W over the Hornets. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Hornets are ranked 489th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Vernon's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Utica, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
