Volleyball Recap: Veritas Prep's Run of 12 Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Veritas Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-match winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Cicero Prep Academy Centurions by a score of 3-2. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Centurions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Veritas Prep wouldn't go down easily and took Cicero Prep Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 20-25, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Veritas Prep still got an impressive performance from Bella Espinosa, who had 23 digs. Espinosa is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Layla Hrabe was a one-woman wrecking crew For Cicero Prep Academy. as she had 24 assists and 15 digs. That's the most digs Hrabe has posted since back in September.

Veritas Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 22-11. As for Cicero Prep Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.

Veritas Prep has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against NFL Yet Academy on the 28th. As for Cicero Prep Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Joseph City on the 30th.
