Pinole Valley is 9-1 against De Anza since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Spartans will look to defend their home field against the Dons at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Pinole Valley's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while De Anza has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Pinole Valley is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since March 7th on Saturday. They fell just short of Novato by a score of 5-3.

Jeremiah Tenorio made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

De Anza not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3, 2024 (when they won 11-0). They put the hurt on Salesian College Preparatory with a sharp 7-1 win.

Daniel Sheppard made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jason Miles, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ty Willson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Pinole Valley now has a losing record of 9-10-1. As for De Anza, their victory bumped their record up to 3-12-1.

Pinole Valley beat De Anza 8-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Dons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
