Basketball Recap: Cummings Comes Up Short

Cummings played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Seaforth Hawks and fell 56-3. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Laniya Johnson was Cummings' leading scorer, having posted three points.

Peyton Collins was her usual excellent self, going 6 of 8 en route to 14 points for Seaforth. Collins has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katherine Leonard, who posted six points and four steals.

Cummings' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Seaforth, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Cummings didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-28 victory against Graham on the 17th. As for Seaforth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-41 win against Wakefield on the 14th.
