Gilroy came out on top against Evergreen Valley on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Cougars. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Mitch Friebel looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gilroy's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Hilton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Gilroy's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Evergreen Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-15.
