Basketball Game Preview: Ocean Springs Greyhounds vs. Harrison Central Red Rebels

The Ocean Springs Greyhounds will take on the Harrison Central Red Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Ocean Springs came up short against Gulfport on Friday, falling 60-36. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Admirals are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, Harrison Central can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They secured a 54-50 W over D'Iberville. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but the Red Rebels were the better team in the second half.

Harrison Central's win came from a few key players Ocean Springs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Shaun Murray, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasen Pace, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Harrison Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Harrison Central's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-17. As for Ocean Springs, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Ocean Springs skirted past Harrison Central 52-50 in their previous matchup on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ocean Springs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
