Softball Recap: Tanque Verde Wins Going Away Against Cholla

Tanque Verde's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Cholla Chargers with a sharp 21-1 win. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.

Julia Pratt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Mikaela Jackson and Remi Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and four RBI, while Johnson went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those runs marked the first that Johnson scored this season. Elizabeth Pratt was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Tanque Verde always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tanque Verde will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on San Tan Foothills at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tanque Verde's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so San Tan Foothills' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cholla, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Maricopa at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
