Softball Recap: Piedmont Academy Cougars vs. Westfield School Hornets
Piedmont Academy and Westfield School squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Piedmont Academy had to settle for second. They came up short against the Westfield School Hornets, falling 14-5. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August.
Teagan Hinson and Marissa Holder did some serious damage despite the final result: Hinson went 2-for-2 with a home run, while Holder went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Keck, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Piedmont Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when they post two or more home runs.
Piedmont Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Westfield School, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-9.
