Football Recap: South Point Takes a Loss

If South Point was riding high fresh off their 41-18 takedown of Chesapeake last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pointers were dealt a 44-15 loss at the hands of the Dawson-Bryant Hornets on Friday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

It was another big night for Kaden Murphy, who rushed for 158 yards and four scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 50 receiving yards and one TD for Dawson-Bryant. Murphy's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 158 rushing yards.

South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Dawson-Bryant, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, South Point will head out on the road to face off against Portsmouth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pointers will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Dawson-Bryant, they will welcome Fairland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Dragons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
