Basketball Game Preview: Bay Springs Bulldogs vs. Newton Tigers

Bay Springs has won three straight games at home, while Newton has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bay Springs Bulldogs will welcome the Newton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Bay Springs earned a 67-57 victory over Clarkdale. Given Bay Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Clarkdale is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Newton strolled past Lake with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 54-38.

Bay Springs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Newton, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Bay Springs was able to grind out a solid victory over Newton when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 40-33. Does Bay Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Newton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
